Emanuel Church Steeple Removed for Repair

Last week saw an historic operation on Main Street. All morning Thursday spectators gathered, some in lawn chairs, in anticipation of the removal of Emanuel Church steeple. Although there was a delay due to downpour, by early afternoon skies had cleared enough to continue work and when the steeple was lifted into the air, a cheer went up from the now large crowd that could be heard many blocks away.
