June 6th Golf Outing Raised $7,600 for CRC & Chamber

The 11th annual fundraiser golf outing for the Community Resource Center and the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce was held Saturday, June 7 at Hills鈥 Heart of the Lakes Golf Course in Brooklyn. It 聽exceeded expectations, raising over $7,600 in proceeds for the two organizations. Enjoying perfect weather, seventy-four golfers hit the links before 9:00 am in聽19 teams. Over a dozen volunteers worked聽grilling聽hot dogs at the clubhouse, setting up the聽silent auction, and taking team photos at聽Hole #4.
This year’s top sponsors included ITC Holdings, Corp. (a third year sponsor) and Chelsea Community Hospital (a new sponsor),聽both of which聽contributed $1,000 to the event. Local company, CEI Composite Materials not only sponsored the event at the $300 level but brought four full teams and their own 鈥渟taff鈥 photographers!
Local businesses, area golf courses, and individual community members also supported the cause by providing sponsorships, silent auction items, volunteer time, and donations — making the day the most successful in many years.
John Hinkley, Dave Petsch, and Mark Merriman formed a last minute team — all of聽whose members all聽took home a trophy! Other notable winners were Barb Fielder and Bob Shaw for the longest drives and Gary Milam for closest to the pin on Hole #8.
Funds received by the Community Resource Center will be used in Manchester to provide programs and services for families and individuals needing temporary, emergency assistance. Programs include the food pantry serving close to 50 households each month, direct assistance to avoid utility shut-off, and help accessing benefits available through the state and other agencies.
The Chamber of Commerce will direct their portion of the proceeds to increasing business traffic and commerce in Manchester, educating and informing members on best business practices, and promoting commercial vitality in our community.
