“Brothers, Sing On!”: Boychoir of Ann Arbor to Perform in Manchester

The Boychoir of Ann Arbor聽will be performing “Brothers, Sing On!” in Manchester on Sunday, May 17th at 4 pm. Presented by聽Riverfolk Music & Arts, the concert which features a choral repertoire of several styles and eras including 鈥淭he Ground鈥 by Ola Gjeilo, will be held at the聽Manchester United Methodist Church at聽501 Ann Arbor Street,聽Manchester.聽Admission is FREE. Students from Cultural Arts Strings will be providing accompaniment.
The Performing Choir (ages 9-18) of this popular, well-trained local chorus will present a program of choral music representing several styles and eras. In addition to 鈥淭he Ground鈥 they will be performing the 聽16th-century Tudor anthem “Rejoice in the Lord always,” two John Rutter spirituals, a Stephen Foster medley, Rollo Dilworth’s setting of the Duoluo (Kenyan) text “Dound Akuru,” and Grieg’s “Brother, Sing On!”聽There will also be聽performances by the Preparatory Choir (ages 7-11) and Young Men’s Ensemble (13-18). The choir includes three boys from Manchester.
Founded in 1987, the Boychoir of Ann Arbor’s mission is to enrich the cultural life of the greater Ann Arbor community and enhance the social, emotional, and musical development of boys who love to sing. They聽provide valuable vocal training, sophisticated repertoire and varied performance opportunities for musically gifted boys ages eight to eighteen.
