New Antique Shop opens on Main Street

River Raisin Antiques owner Sue LaRocque selling a decorative chair to former downtown business owner Dee Miles at the grand opening of the store on Friday.

Friday afternoon, shortly after school let out, a crowd gathered outside of聽138 Main Street to watch the ribbon cutting ceremony and official opening聽of聽River Raisin Antiques and Mercantile. Sue LaRocque, an elementary teacher who will be retiring at the end of this school year to pursue her love聽of selling antiques, and Ray Berg of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon. New customers poured inside.

River Raisin Antiques and Mercantile’s聽grand opening聽was also what would have been LaRocque’s grandmother -Glenna Kaiser’s 100th birthday. Her photo hangs behind the counter in the shop.
