Library Summer Reading Program to kick-off on Friday with a magic show
School is almost over for the year and that means it is time for the聽summer reading program at Manchester District Library!聽This year theme is Build a Better World, teaching children about living responsibly in this world. The library has a聽lot of聽activities planned for the kids and adults over the summer as well as programs for teens and adults, and drawings for fantastic prizes.
The summer reading program聽kicks off on June聽16th聽with registration beginning聽at noon, immediately after the half-day of Manchester Community Schools聽lets out. At 1 pm,the library will present A2 Magic in the Village Room! If you are unable to attend the kick-off event, registration will continue the following week. Throughout the summer, drawings will be held on Saturdays for聽those who are up to date on their reading logs.
The library will be holding fun and educational Tuesday programs, open to all ages this summer. These include:
- June聽20th: AMCOR: OCEAN DEBRIS AND RECYCLYING WITH Dennis Kittel 10 am in the Village Room
- June 27th: GUEST AUTHOR, KAREN BUNNEY 鈥β“The Adventures of Bessie Bunny鈥澛10 am in the Main Library
- July 11th: DRONES, DRONES, a high-flying, thrilling demonstration by C. Dupree. 10 am in the Village Room
- July 18th: BUILD YOUR OWN BIRDHOUSE (Materials supplied) Devin Stacy 11:30 am in the Village Room *REGISTRATION REQUIRED*
On聽July 28th, the library will be holding the END OF SUMMER READING PROGRAM PARTY! in the village Room. The party will include pizza at 5 pm聽and a grand prize drawing at 5:45 pm. A聽completion certificate is required聽to attend the pizza party and grand-prize drawing. At 6 pm the public half of the party begins聽with聽the聽Leslie Science Center giving a presentation. This is open to everyone, whether they have participated and completed the Summer Reading Program or not.
