Manchester Fairy Festival a success despite weather!

The Manchester Fairy Festival on Thursday, June 29, was originally scheduled to take place at the Manchester Farmers’ Market, but two separate meteorological events kept that from happening this year. First, the event had to be rescheduled due to thunderstorms with a chance of hail, and then, very unhealthy air quality conditions drove the event indoors. Thankfully, because of some fairy magic, the Festival could still go on in the Village Room. The Manchester Fairy Festival had its biggest turnout yet with more than 60 fairy participants!

Fairy Festival activities included a free make-and-take fairy garden, fairy crafts, a fairy interpretive dance, a fairy hunt, a fairy parade, and a special fairy story time with the Library Fairy Amelia. Our “fairy” talented volunteers Andi and Joy, with help of friend Paula, headed up the Fairy Gardens while our very own Fairy Grandmother helped children of all ages make their very own fairy wand.

A “fairy” special thanks to our thoughtful volunteers and for the generous support of our community. Worth Repeating sponsored The Manchester Fairy Festival, including donating funds for the purchase of supplies for our fairy gardens. The Fairies like to keep it local so the potting soil was from McLennan Landscape, and the flowers were from Fusilier Family Farm. Fusilier gave us a half-off discount for our event as well. Debbie Kelly donated more than 60 baby ferns for the fairy gardens and three large ferns for our raffle. The Manchester Lions Club donated the giant stuffed animals, plus many toys, including troll dolls, for our raffle.

The volunteers and donators make this Manchester tradition something very special and we greatly appreciate all involved with The Manchester Fairy Festival. It was a “Fairy” Fun time! Manchester truly is a magical place.
