Experience Chelsea Senior Center at Community Open House
Editor note: Last week we shared information on Chelsea Senior Center first-ever community open house. This week we are sharing more specifics! Did you know that the Chelsea Senior Center serves the greater Chelsea area, including Manchester? While Manchester Senior Center is under construction, check out the activities and amenities for seniors just up the road.

Everyone is invited to Chelsea Senior Center (CSC) 鈥渟how-and-tell鈥 on September 24, between 3 and 5pm, as it is hosting its first-ever community open house.
Upon walking into the center, you will be greeted by friendly CSC team members and volunteers, including the very active Travel Committee volunteers. Sign up for the December trek to see It a Wonderful Life at the historic Redford Theater and get the intel on day trips and overnight adventures planned for 2025. Share your ideas, too. 聽 聽
You are invited to visit the Trinh Pifer Intergenerational Garden and take home some goodies from the Farm Stand expected to feature fresh-cut herbs, cherry tomatoes and jalape帽o peppers for eating, and cornstalks and Jack Be Little pumpkins for decorating. Follow the musical tones of dulcimer, ukulele and sing-along jam sessions. Visit with our welcoming artisans who enjoy painting, woodcarving, stained-glass art, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and other artistic pursuits.
If you鈥檙e curious about CSC five-days-a-week fitness offerings, check out 鈥渆nhance fitness,鈥 going strong after 15 years, indoor pickleball, yoga, cardio drumming, and seated adaptive dance. Learn about other well-being offerings like Cranium Crunchers to strengthen cognitive recall, Ease the Day for caregiver respite, and a slew of other movement options like line and square dancing and Tai Chi. If games spark your interest, chat with members who never miss weekly bingo, euchre, mah-jongg, cribbage, pinochle, billiards, and other games.

鈥淚f you鈥檝e been curious about CSC, please join us. I know you鈥檒l learn something that you can share with friends, neighbors, family, or just keep in your pocket for later as you age. We鈥檒l be here when you鈥檙e ready for us,鈥 says Jennifer Smith, Executive Director of CSC. 鈥淲e鈥檙e an intergenerational space with many opportunities to connect with people aged three to 103. Most programs cater to adults over 50, but even then, you can engage with seniors 30 or 40 years your senior!鈥
This is a great time to ask about volunteer opportunities as well. CSC is seeking volunteers for: Senior Nutrition Program meal preparation and packing, Meals on Wheels delivery, front desk work, and Ease the Day programs. Volunteer applications will be on hand at the open house.
